Legends of Kargil

In the darkened valleys where the icy winds sweep,

Lie the quiet echoes of Legends of Kargil, now asleep.

527 bright stars fell from the sky,

Protectors of freedom who answered the cry.

1000s of souls on fire under the Himalayan might,

With valour that flared through the darkest night.

In the Kargil peaks, where the eagles dare,

They stood as one, defying death & despair.

Blood flushed the snow, turning white to red,

Each stage a story, and a lot left unsaid.

For their beloved land, for the flag they held high,

Our Legends of Kargil fought fearlessly, ready to die.

Mother’s prayers and father’s silent pride,

Wife & children boldly by their side.

A nation's woe, a country’s solemn vow,

In remembrance always, to honour now.

So many soldiers with their bodies scarred & torn,

Minds still holding the weight of a war's brutal scorn.

Quiet in their eyes, there is a steadfast flame,

A proof of the long suffering of that fatal game.

Oh, Legends of Kargil, your sacrifice is immense,

For every heart holds your memory intense.

May you rest in peace & power, in the mountains high,

With every dawn, your souls will fly.

In every heart of India, the legends live on,

In the whispers of cool breeze, at every dawn.

We hold you tight, in gratitude and tears,

Legends of Kargil, you will be, for infinite years.

Jai Hind
